Circular Economy
Casting and Pouring
What is the Circular Economy?
In practical terms, the circular economy aims to minimize waste. Instead of discarding products at the end of their life, efforts are made to keep their materials within the economy through recycling. This process allows for repeated and productive utilization of these materials, generating additional value in the process.
Here at Central Foundry we believe that used castings can become part of the Circular Economy. The most efficient and environmentally friendly way to produce newly certified ingots is to start with scrap metal with the same specification as the ingots to be produced.
A great example of this is a recent project of ours where we turned an old yacht keel into lead ingots to be reused.
Recycling done right!
Here we took old lead weights from a decommissioned Navy boat, melted them down and turned them into marine weights for another customer. It saved our customer money and more importantly meant that precious natural resources were saved in the process.
